• Fats – Some fats are good and some are bad. Stay away from saturated fats and Trans fats which are man-made from animal products. Fats from fish, nuts, and soybeans are a good source of fats to lower blood pressure.

• Exercise – Do exercises that gets your heart pumping, especially cardio. A stronger more efficient heart will pump more blood with less effort. This in turn can lower your high blood pressure score.

• Weight lost – You can find out through any search engine on your own how much you should weigh to be considered healthy. Though doctors will and do recommend losing weight, they often do not give you the top tips to lose it.

• Alcohol and smoking – Limit alcohol to one drink per night and begin a cut back smoking program immediately. Search the web for information about quitting smoking as a natural cure.

• Vitamins – Recommended vitamins to take are vitamins C, D, B5, B6, and folic acid, which is also a B vitamin. Great to lower blood pressure

Remember to keep track of all sodium eaten, including processed foods and added during cooking or at the table. A daily log would surely help. To lower blood pressure even more, here are a few tips to choose foods low in salt and sodium:

• Cook with herbs, spices, and salt-free seasoning blends in cooking and at the table instead of salt

• Do not add salt when cooking rice, pasta, or hot cereals. Cut back on instant flavored rice, pasta, and cereal mixes because they usually have salt added.

• Cut back on frozen dinners, pizza, packaged mixes, canned soups or broth, and salad dressings, which usually have a lot of sodium.

• When available and your budget allows it, buy low or reduced sodium, or “no-salt added” versions of soups, vegetables, vegetable juices, low-fat cheese, condiments, crackers, and baked goods.

• Rinse canned foods such as tuna to remove some sodium
